Complaints received by UK’s biggest banks

New FSA rules mean that banks have to publish data every six months about the number of complaints they receive.

Latest data from the top six banks shows a staggering 1.4 million complaints were received in just six months equating to more than 11,000 every day.

Worse still, the figures also show that up to nine in every 10 bank complaints are dismissed without even an apology from the bank. Yet when these problems are assessed independently, around half are upheld.

This complaints data was released in the same week as the latest customer satisfaction survey from consumer group Which? and Chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith confirmed that the big players are failing miserably when it comes to providing excellent customer service – “Whether it’s a current account, mortgage, credit card or savings account, we consistently see the same names keeping their customers happy”.

People must make the move and switch to a better financial provider if they are unhappy with their current level of service.
